Gears of War 3 announced for 2010

It's not the biggest surprise in the world...

...but Epic have confirmed that Gears of War 3 is in the works, and should be releasing in the fourth quarter of 2010. Marcus Fenix will return and so far the only real detail is that the game will feature the option to play through the entire campaign as a 5-player co-op multiplayer game as well as trudging through on your own.

Cliff Blezinski had previously stated that "If Gears of War 2 is a success then a third game will be coming sooner than you think" so with 3 million copies sold, I guess we can all look forward to more locust mashing in 2010.
